Who you Are versus Who you Can Be?

We live in a world where we glorify our celebrities, pay them outrageous salaries and we sit back and allow them to entertain us. And there’s really nothing wrong with that, but let’s dig a little deeper.

Most of us we would consider “average.” We aren’t the top 1% of our industry of performance, of skill, of athleticism. Most of us are good, honorable people, trying to make a good living, save a decent sum for retirement and enjoy our lives. And there’s really nothing wrong with that, but let’s dig a little deeper.

What separates the top 1% from the rest of the population?  Is it luck, is it determination, is it having the right connections, the right values, making extreme sacrifices, the right mindset, the right upbringing? It seems to be a combination of some of those things, but not necessarily all of them.

And why wouldn’t we all choose that path? Is it because many of us see beyond the glimpse of fame, into the real lives of the top 1% and realize, “wow, good for them, but that’s not for me!” It’s probably not because we’re lazy, or unmotivated, or even unlucky. In most cases I think many of us would rather be good at multiple endeavors rather than dedicating all our time and energy towards one or two!

What’s MOST IMPORTANT here is to realize that just because we’re decently good at a lot of things, doesn’t give us the right to “check out” on life and become “armchair quarterbacks.” Just because we aren’t the best of the best, enjoying our 4 houses and multi-million-dollar contracts, doesn’t mean it’s our destiny to be a worker-bee and then veg out on our couch and divulge in being entertained. NO – we have SO MUCH LIFE TO ENGAGE IN – even as “average,” good citizens of this world!

So, let’s stop comparing our lives to the top 1% and calling ourselves “average.” The truth is each one of us is EXCEPTIONAL.

And here it is!... There is one area of your life you are truly exceptional at, and that’s at being YOU. You are the top 1% of the 1% of you-ness. No one can take that away from you. And whatever you choose to do with your life is entirely up to you. So rather than looking at the top 1% with envy, and rather than focusing on how average you and most of us around are, why don’t we bring out the best in each of our “u-niqueness.” What is it that you desire to be, and to do with your life and what’s the best way to get there?

The top tier of success in moving in the direction of bringing out your best, is FIRST having the right foundation when it comes to your Health. Health truly is wealth.

Going back to the top 1% of athletes, celebrities, performers, etc.…, none of them last long on the podium of starlight without their health. And WE simply cannot be there for our families, our faith, or our career, if we’re sick and limited.

So, what is the right foundation to build? Can we eat good and not exercise? Or on the flip-side, can we exercise and eat fast food all the time? Can we have a horrible outlook on life, but have good nutrition and everything will be, okay? Or on the flip-side can we be Mr. or Mrs. Positive, but never get our butt off the couch? Our optimal health foundation is built by having three components in place: Eating Well, Moving Well and Thinking Well.

We must nurture our physical health, our bio-chemical health (nutrients, environment), and our spiritual/ emotional health. We can’t expect to be our best with only 1 or 2 of those components.

One of the greatest sources of inspiration to me is seeing older people still engaging in life:  yoga practitioners that didn’t start practicing yoga until their 40’s, runners that didn’t start running until they were in their 60’s. Heck I remember a newspaper article of a woman in her 70’s that started surfing in her late 60’s. It’s never too late to start!

We, here at Elevation Now Wellness Center, offer the perfect launching pad to help you become your best. It’s called 8 Weeks to Wellness. It doesn’t mean you become healthy in 8 weeks and then go back to your old habits. It’s all about taking this moment, right NOW to course correct, bring out and ELEVATE your best life for the rest of your years. It’s about helping you build that right foundation to optimal health – so you can fully be there for your families, your faith, your career, your hobby, your volunteer opportunities, and you can move more in the direction of being your best.

It’s all about teaching you and holding you accountable to eating better, moving better, and thinking better. And when that happens, it’s like magic:  Your weight “course corrects,” your energy improves, you sleep better, you find yourself happier more often, and you find out you really enjoy being healthier because everything improves!

We recently had a graduate tell us, “I’ve tried each of those things on their own, and it wasn’t until I put them all together that it worked.”

Diets aren’t sustainable on their own. Working out like a maniac without diet change isn’t productive or sustainable either. And most importantly, ignoring your necessary shift in mindset to make positive changes stick will never work without the right guidance and support to make it so.

We are here for you to launch you in the direction you were meant to naturally exist in – a state of optimal health. Let’s bring out the best in you so you can live your best life possible, no matter your age!

So, what’s the first step? Call or text us at 970-263-9100 and ask to have your “wellness score” performed. We can see where you are at, and help you get to where you want to be!
